The Island returns to M6 in 2025, under a new name, “l’île du penal”, and with a cast of 5-star celebrities…
Six years after its last broadcast, M6 has decided to relaunch its emblematic reality and survival TV program The Island. This new season, called “The Island”, will be broadcast from this Tuesday, January 7, 2025, in prime time. For this big comeback, the channel and the production company Endemol saw things in a big way, but also in a shorter way. The classic experience of surviving on an island for 28 days has been put on the shelf. This time, the candidates will participate in a 10-day traveling expedition through the Thai jungle, with the mission of reaching an extraction point.
Another great novelty of The Island version 2025 is on the animation side. Exit Mike Horn, make way for the adventurer Loury Lag (real name Lagardère), who was chosen for his “survival purist” side. An approach which promises to be necessary in view of the Dantean conditions which await the participants on site.
Placed on an island 99% covered in jungle, the candidates of The Island During filming, they were only allowed the bare minimum in terms of equipment and food, including only 30 liters of water for the entire adventure. Enough to put even the most seasoned to the test. Not to mention the capricious weather, with record heat and heavy rain during the getaway, filmed last April-May. “There were very tough conditions,” confirms Jean Louis Blot, director of Endemol, suggesting major challenges and many tensions within the group, formed by a 5-star casting.

To attract as many viewers as possible, M6 has also focused in 2025 on popular personalities from various backgrounds. An eclectic casting with varied motivations, as Jean Louis Blot also explained at a press conference: “The goal was to have a varied group”, with candidates coming to prove something to themselves. Nathalie Marquay wishes to reconnect with nature after the death of her husband Jean-Pierre Pernaut. Pierre-Ambroise Bosse wants to discover his true personality. Julien Cohen is looking for a human challenge and Daniela Capone hopes to regain self-confidence…
