, Gad Elmaleh’s favorite land? One could believe it as the Franco-Moroccan comedian sings the praises of the capital of Gaul. There is no question here of a Proust-style quote, but of a sincere and assumed love for a city which has everything of an artistic love at first sight.

In a video interview given to the media Neo published on social networks this Saturday January 4, Gad Elmaleh spoke openly about his special relationship with Lyon. “My favorite place in ? It’s not a place, it’s a city. The one from Lyon,” he confides enthusiastically.

Beginnings between Rhône and Saône

Since then, water has flowed under the bridges but Gad’s love for Lyon has not dried up. On the contrary, he seems to have improved! The comedian fondly evokes “these little traffic jams”, the Opera, and all these theaters which have shaped his artistic career.

A demanding audience… but fair!

Far from the clichés about the supposedly haughty Lyonnais, Gad Elmaleh praises the accuracy of the local public. “When it’s funny, they go all out!” When it’s a little bit lower, there’s a form of reserve, of perplexity which is just right. This pushes us to challenge ourselves,” he explains. A requirement which seems to stimulate the artist, to the point that he chose Lyon to film his shows.

The comedian does not fail to highlight the cultural richness of the city, evoking the majestic Fourvière basilica which overlooks the city. His enthusiasm is such that he concludes, half-joking, half-seriously: “It’s crazy, I realize it and I say to myself, “But I have to go and live there”. »
