Who would have thought that the Luxembourg flag would make an appearance in the second season of the hit series “Squid Game”? In the middle of the dramatic scenes and thrilling games, an Internet user, Luca and his page iamluca94 in this case, spotted a small detail and shared it on Instagram: in the background of a scene from the fourth episode, the flag of Luxembourg floats among others.
Of course, the question immediately arises: coincidence or deliberate placement? Maybe someone on the team thought, “Why not Luxembourg?” Or is there a deeper message, a tribute to multiculturality?
But the second season has much more to offer. The drama surrounding seemingly harmless, but ultimately deadly, children’s games is already Netflix’s most successful series. In just four days, the season was viewed approximately 68 million times worldwide. For comparison, the first season had 265 million views in 2021 in about 90 days – an all-time high for Netflix.
Also in Luxembourg, the second season rose directly to first place in the Netflix rankings. And viewers now have a special reason to rejoice at seeing their flag so well represented. Fans are also treated to some good news: after this season, there will be a third and final season in 2025.
