After almost 20 months of absence, we did not expect to see New President (5) already as safe as December 15. It must be said that he found a route that he likes and that he will take again during this Pierre Estrem Rey Prize. It is therefore not surprising that Éric Brosselin, the ParisTurf tipster, makes it his favorite. Our journalist then trusted a horse, Hooker de Brenus (7), who disappointed during his last outing, – swerving on most of his jumps before slipping away – but who, under the guidance of the new Cravache d’Or, Clément Lefebvre, has the means to rehabilitate himself . Equipped with Australian blinders for the first time Just In Time Blue (8), who remains on three runners-up, is able to play an active role in this quinté. Diamond (13) combines form and freshness. He must be able to stand out for his first race at the meeting at Pau, a racecourse which generally succeeds well for him. It will be the day of firsts for Marche (2): first handicap, first race in Pau and first time he will wear blinkers. This can have a positive effect for this resident of François Nicolle, who returns well after a long absence. Very disappointing last time in Auteuil, Folly Foot (3) deserves to be bought out, because he no longer has to prove himself at this level. General Desi (15) did not disappoint for his Pau debut on heavy ground and can still claim a good ranking, even if he would have preferred a shallower track. Winner of the reference race, where our favorite ranked second, Never Risk (12) will have to negotiate the six pounds of penalty resulting from this success.

As part of our daily show 100% Quinté, Arsène Abitbol scrutinized the competitors for the Pierre Estrem Rey Prize. If his priority choices sometimes differ from those of Éric Brosselin, he agrees with the ParisTurf tipster on the candidacy of New President.
New President (5) : “He behaved well in the reference race (Prix Abel Ramon Diago), on December 15 on the course that interests us. After waiting in the middle of the pack, he progressed between the last two hurdles to get second place, making up a lot of ground on the winner, Never Risk. A good performance, all the more striking as the horse had not been seen since April 2023. He should have ridden this fall and looks formidable in this quinté.”
Marche (2) : “This resident of François Nicolle only has good outings (100% in the first 4). We really liked it in the Hunorisk Prize won by Ain’t Got Wings, who is not the first to come. This quality element, expected to progress, because it still has room for improvement and is not very experienced, will have a good card to play on Thursday for its first handicap.”
Folly Foot (3) : “Contrary to Marche, he already has a lot of experience. At 10 years old, he has many good references at this level. Being able to adapt to different strategies, which is a definite asset in big handicaps, he is certainly capable of distinguishing himself once again.”
Never Risk (12) : “He seems to have reached a milestone, as demonstrated by his victory in the benchmark race. We probably wouldn’t have selected him if this quinté had taken place in Auteuil, but he seems to like the Pau track and, in these conditions, his candidacy makes sense.”
Just In Time Blue (8) : “Third in the reference race, but also in the Prix Prince d’Ecouen where Folly Foot finished second, he showed on these occasions that he was a courageous and stubborn horse. He is still capable of taking a small place in this event.”
