the essential
The traveling Arts Vagabonds festival has taken stock of the year and is preparing a new formula for the year to come.

The general meeting of the Arts Vagabonds association was held a few days ago, with around twenty participants. The traveling arts festival, organized from September 12 to 15, mobilized 50 artists spread across four municipalities (Saint-Félix-Lauragais, Saint-Julia, Puéchoursy and Le Falga), attracting nearly 4,000 visitors throughout the these days of discovery and artistic sharing.

The opening at the Château de Saint-Félix, a real highlight of the event, brought together nearly 300 people in a friendly atmosphere, marking the kick-off of this festival rich in cultural offerings. Highlights punctuated the festival, such as the “inspired strolls” of the writer Pierre-Jean Brassac, the Japanese painting and calligraphy workshops led by Monique Dessart and Chieko Imamura (complete at each session), or even the creation of ‘a mural by graffiti artist Bizo in Saint-Julia.

Financial and artistic success

The financial results for the year are also very encouraging, with a profit of around €8,200 for a budget of €24,000. The artists took advantage of the public’s enthusiasm, achieving €14,000 in sales, a significant increase compared to last year.

The assembly debated at length the orientations for the next edition. The idea of concentrating the festival around Revel and Sorèze, integrating emblematic places such as the Sorèze Abbey School, was put forward, although this perspective divided the members. Some wish to maintain the itinerant nature of the event by including other towns such as Durfort or Cahuzac. “We have to juggle between the need for artists to meet their audience and the need to turn to small communities,” explains president Alain Descombes.

A renewed office

The AG proceeded with the re-election of the office, with Alain Descombes reappointed as president, Camille Descombes as secretariat, and Valéry Davidenko as treasury.
