La Gerbe d’or offered its end-of-year gala with majorette show and Christmas concert. The public did not fail to applaud the ensemble, particularly the majorette choreographies, with wands, pompoms, flags, change of outfits to finish in red and white, as well as the musicians, to the famous song by Maria Carey, All I want for Christmas is you. During the intermission, there was the decorations ceremony, starting with the majorettes. Thus, a wand-shaped pendant to Lisa Hoang and Sofia Lava for 3 years of presence, the encouragement medal with silver palm to Marie Voronovas and the encouragement medal with gold palm to Lizea Archetti and Lea Bet , for respectively 10 and 15 years of presence. Then, it was the musicians’ turn. The bronze medal to Gaspard Roques for 5 years on the percussion desk, the silver medal to Jérôme Anthoine for 10 years on the baritone sax.
Proud of Lydia and Johan’s journey
Finally, it was the turn of Lydia Gout and Johan Lava who received the medal for musical fidelity from the Union of Fanfares and Musical Ensembles, each for 30 years within the Music of the Golden Sheaf. Lydia Gout was first an alto saxophonist then a tenor. In addition, during all these years, she was secretary, vice-president for 25 years and director of majorettes. Johan Lava started at the age of 11 as a drum apprentice, ending up professional at the Music of the Parachutists of Toulouse and musical director at the Gerbe d’or, thus succeeding Patrice Rouzeau. His journey is a source of pride for the association, proving that real talents can come from the ranks of amateur music.
In the second part of the evening, the prestigious Harmonie “La Garonne”, a group of more than sixty excellent musicians, offered a masterful concert, with beautiful film music. The room was full, the audience was delighted with the quality of the performances of the majorettes and musicians of the Gerbe d’Or but also of the talented musicians of La Garonne. A magnificent evening which brought the Christmas spirit to life.
