The city of Porto-Vecchio as we rarely see it. “My only prohibition was the postcard image, slide Anton RenborgSwedish photographer. I wanted to show something else.”

In black and white, on the walls of The Arsenale in spread out a multitude of “fragments of life” in the city of salt. Without forgetting “Subliming absence”, the name of the exhibition, the opening of which took place this Tuesday, December 17. And to materialize this absence, in almost all of the photos, there is not a living soul.

“On the spot” images

We also notice a series of photographs dedicated to the salt marshes. “I learned of their existence when I arrived there, through a discussion with a restaurateur, relates the artist. I was immediately attracted by this heritage that has been left aside, but which remains a place of life for the inhabitants.”

Anton Renborg took this first step in Porto-Vecchio as part of an artists' residency, organized last May by Corsica Light. “To complete this series, and break up the rhythm, I also went in search of other sites, continues the photographer. For this, I drew inspiration from my meetings, and the discussions that resulted from them. I did not prepare myself voluntarily before this residency, to take images on the spot.”

Accustomed to the landscapes of Haute-Corse, he is also the co-author – with Natacha Wolinski – of the book Corse Noticespublished by Filigranes editions. “But for the South, it was a first!”he smiles.

Alongside him in this exhibition, another photographer, Yan Leandrioriginally from A Granaccia. He was interested in the Corso-Sardinian archipelago, this time in colors. He was unable to be present at the opening.

The exhibition is on view until December 28 at L'Arsenale. Itinerant, she is expected to travel to Stockholm next year.
