In 2019, Arthur Teboul and Julien Doré were in the casting ofEtc. Flight. 2the album of duets that singer Christophe (1945-2020) recorded with guests covering a selection of his songs (including The Beautiful Bizarre, interpreter with Teboul, and The Dolce Vita, with Doré). Five years later, the singer-poet of the group Feu! Chatterton and the former winner of “The New Star” from M6, who has become a confirmed star, are once again practicing the art of the cover, with two albums, released a few weeks apart: Piano Voice for Arthur Teboul, accompanied by jazz pianist Baptiste Trotignon, and Impostor for Julien Doré. Two public successes which, if they have a title in common – A happy manby William Sheller (present in Piano Voice More, the expanded version of Piano Voice, released on December 4) –, outline two approaches and, implicitly, two very different conceptions of the French-speaking repertoire.

Recorded in public during two concerts given as a duo at La Seine musicale, in Boulogne-Billancourt (Hauts-de-Seine), Piano Voice celebrates above all the aristocracy of “text songs”. Barbara, Jacques Brel, Alain Bashung, Brigitte Fontaine, Jacques Higelin or Léo Ferré and Georges Brassens (through the music they composed for the texts of Louis Aragon) are served by the respectful presence of the singer and the agile sobriety of the pianist.
