Jean Paul Gaultier Celebrates Pride Month With an Arty Mural in His Image – Last Day

Jean-Paul Gaultier is celebrating Pride Month by inviting artist Pepo Moreno to paint a committed fresco in the Marais. The work, in the colors of its creator’s fashion label, is on display until June 30, 2024.

In parallel with the Pride March (formerly Gay Pride), the Pride Month ignites under the bright and bold brushstrokes of Purple Purple in the busy streets of Marais. At the invitation of Jean paul Gaultierthe Spanish artist lights up the 78 rue Vieille du Temple with a work that captures the spirit of freedom, acceptance and celebration of differences, until June 30, 2024. As a true leader of this committed tradition, the “enfant terrible of fashion” once again raises his rainbow flag to change mentalities while energizing the cultural landscape with contagious passion.

A rainbow which is found in the famous fresco, overlooking a sailor in the very Gaultier style, brandishing the two iconic perfumes of the house: Classique and Male. The drawing is accompanied by the words “Jean-Paul is queer and 4ever here”.

Purple Purple found his ideal artistic playground in Paris. From Berlin, where he had his first experiences of homosexuality, to the City of Lights, where he lives today, he transforms stereotypes into vivid paintings, mixing humor and depth to embrace diversity in all its aspects.

Through saturated colors and varied acrylic techniques, her works captivate and celebrate difference with a style that hits the mark. Pepo balances between satire and homage, exploring the paradoxes of the modern queer experience.
