“Hawk Tuah”: Sales of nearly $100,000

Thanks to the phrase “Hawk Tuah” coined by a Tennessee woman that went viral on social media, an American company has already recorded sales of nearly $100,000 Canadian.

In a video posted last week, a man asked Hailey Welch for a move that could drive a man crazy in bed. She responded with a smile, indicating that “you need to do the “Hawk Tuah” and spit on that thing.”

The clip quickly went viral on TikTok. Merchandise like caps and sweaters were sold online. The merchandise features the phrase “Hawk Tuah, Spit On That Thang.”

According to the “New York Post”, the owner of the American company that launched the products, Jason Poteete, has recorded sales of more than 65,000 US in less than a week. He has already sold 2,000 caps at a price of $32.78 or $50 for a cap signed by Hailey Welch.

“Of course, she didn’t get a dollar from the first viral video that went viral,” Poteete told rollingstone.com of Hailey Welch Welch, whom he claims to have known for years. […] Our biggest orders are usually 100 hats, or 150 to 250 shirts. That’s quite unusual for us. It’s a small, family-run shop.”

“No one asked his permission either. I just wanted her to make something out of it,” he added. Jason Poteete refused to specify what percentage of sales Hailey Welch would receive.

Overwhelmed by events

According to Jason Poteete, Hailey Welch is “overwhelmed” by her sudden popularity. The main person concerned is said to have changed the settings of her social networks. She is said to have limited the information available to the public about her.

“There are crazy people in the world who contacted her,” he said. She is probably one of the most famous people in the world today. But I don’t know if she likes it.”
