It was nice and warm on Friday, June 28, 2024, for the launch of the third edition of the Pop au Parc festival in Sablé-sur-Sarthe. Mild weather, better than that of the opening night in 2023, which contributed to the success of this launch: nearly 3,000 spectators were counted by the organizers, 1,000 more than a year ago.

Before the official opening of the gates of the castle meadow, decorated by the Zarmine collective, the Angevin brass band Big Joanna brought the atmosphere to the terraces of Place Raphaël-Élizé, during sessions at 6 p.m. and then at 7:30 p.m. A new feature to further open the festival to the city center.

Maëlle and MPL on the bill this Saturday

As an aperitif before the two concerts of the evening on the main stage. It was the French pop singer Thibaud Vanhooland, aka Voyou, who provided the opening act with his musicians and backing vocalists. His pop ballads hit the mark with the audience who gradually filled the site. The artist also added two songs, including one acoustic, as an encore.

The Big Joanna brass band then provided the interlude under the bar marquee, before the arrival on stage of the crazy French group Naive New Beaters. The band, led by the ineffable Michael Bensoussan, aka Esteban or David Boring (his two pseudonyms), put on a show. A lively performance, mixing electro, rock and rap that got the audience moving, with many young people sitting in the front rows.
