According to them, Matt Damon, 53, is worried that his best friend, who is an alcoholic, is relapsing while rumors are that his marriage, celebrated in July 2022, is failing.

The couple were not photographed together for a month and Affleck, 51, was seen without his wedding ring. Lopez, 54, took a solo vacation to Italy, which only fueled separation rumors.

Matt Damon, who has known Affleck since their youth in Boston, reportedly recommended that he “focus on my work” so as not to get lost along the way.

“Matt tried to warn Ben when he got back together with JLo that this could happen,” a source told DailyMail.com.

“Matt was there to help Ben get his act together after their first breakup and he felt like it was going to happen again.”

Unlike Affleck, Damon has had a stable marriage of 18 years to Luciana Barroso.

“Matt has had a successful marriage for years and Ben has always been impressed by that,” the sources said.

“As things started to fall apart, Matt told Ben that he would support him whatever choice he made, but that he wanted him to jump in and focus on his work. Ben spent so much time focusing on JLo’s projects, just like he did the first time.”

The two men won an Oscar together for the film’s screenplay Good Will Hunting and together they founded the production company Artists Equity.
