Daily racist messages. This is what Mohamed Bouhafsi denounced Wednesday evening on the set of C to you, on France 5, following the racist letter received by his colleague Karim Rissouli at his home the day before. For Bouhafsi, racist speech was released after the European election of June 9: “These are continuous messages that arrive four to five times a day… Before it was once a month.”
During the day of Wednesday June 26, he published on Instagram a selection of messages received in recent days: “North Africans and Africans will never integrate with us, we don’t have the same culture, they are too different, they must return home” or “soon it’s the end of France for rogues like you! The boat and return to the country for assholes and scum like you”often accompanied by boat or plane emoji.
On the set of France 5, Bouhafsi gave an emotional testimony on the set of his own show: “I had the chance to cover for C to you the 2022 presidential election, I haven’t experienced that on the ground. In the Loiret a few days ago […]a man said to me “but you, Mohamed, are not like the other bougnoules”. Journalist urges to no longer be “essentialized according to [s]we first name, of [s]we name, or [s]alleged origin or [s]a so-called religion.
“The historic French people have their asses full of idiots”
This speech follows the publication of the letter that Karim Rissouli received at his home, but also that addressed to the mother of the journalist fromFreeze Images, Nassira El Moaddem. In the missive received by Rissouli, racist remarks are written in capital letters: “Frankly Karim, you did not understand the vote of June 9, it is not purchasing power, it is not retirement at 60, it is not the privatization of Radio France, the one and only fundamental reason for the RN vote is that the historic French people who are fed up with all these idiots”. Capital letters that we also find in the letter received by Nassira El Moaddem’s mother, on the same type of paper. The journalist is described as “jerseys”, and insulted: “you should tell Nassira to shut the fuck up, or go abroad, it was the French people who paid for it.”
These three journalists’ testimonies provoked numerous reactions among politicians. First by François Bayrou, alongside Mohamed Bouhafsi on the set of C to you : “There are people who came to France, wanted to have children because they thought France was safe from that. They thought that we did not reduce people to religion, skin color… Today they are falling from a height,” he laments. On the left, Marine Tondelier, national secretary of the Ecologists, responded to the testimony of Karim Rissouli: “impunity already seems to reign as if the extreme right were already in power. Let’s prevent this from ever happening.”
