Kendji Girac published a video on his Instagram account Wednesday evening in which he speaks for the first time of his terrible gesture by which he almost died. “I got lost,” says the singer. He promises to come back to sing soon.
Kendji is not very smiling, unlike usual, with a serious look, visibly moved. For the first time since he intentionally injured himself by gunfire, Kendji Girac speaks publicly in a video posted Wednesday evening on Instagram. Until now, the singer had published a simple written message.
Kendji Girac looks back on this terrible night of April 21 to 22, 2024 in a Traveler camp in Biscarrosse in the Landes. “I got into a spiral that I wouldn’t wish on anyone. I got lost,” he explains, looking serious. “I really regret everything that happened.”

The singer justifies his silence. “I had to take care of myself and think about what had happened to understand how I got to this point. And above all, make the right decisions for the future.” He continues: “I also wanted to let justice do its work. And now that this is the case, I wanted to speak to you.” The judicial investigation into the subject is now closed since it showed that Kendji Girac had injured himself due to alcohol and after an argument with his wife.

On several occasions, he thanks his family, his wife Soraya whom he cites once without naming her, his professional entourage and especially his fans. “I almost lost my life, the love of my family, my audience, my friends. My daughter almost lost her father. I don’t know what happened.” He also thanks the caregivers at the Pessac hospital in Gironde who took care of him and the public prosecutor of Mont-de-Marsan who had been publicly criticized for having disclosed the confidences of Kendji Girac’s wife on the life of his couple.
“It’s up to me now to regain your trust.”
Looking to the future, he says: “I want to go back to being the boy I was, that I am deep down.” And to continue: “I want to learn from his mistakes”, because “nothing is fixed in life”. “My goal is to make people happy […] God gave me this second chance, it’s not for nothing […] It’s now up to me to show you who I am, to regain your trust.” Kendji Girac concludes: “I can’t wait to see you again. See you soon”.
