Cinema everywhere in town

The traveling movement “Brussels makes its cinema” starts this Wednesday and will last until July 16. It’s an initiative born almost 15 years ago and led by the non-profit organization Libération Films.” Launched in 2001, Bruxelles fait son cinéma is a traveling open-air cinema, inspired by an old tradition as found especially in Mediterranean countries”, explains the organization in a press release. “We wanted to initiate a meeting place where we try to encourage living together, to maintain or recreate a friendly relationship between residents.”

And it works, because over time it has spread to the 19 Brussels municipalities. The films are selected in consultation with the Culture departments and/or cultural centers of the partner municipalities, and the common objective is to introduce quality cinema to an audience that is sometimes uninformed in large cities.

Want to live the experience?

Among the free screenings offered are “Linda Wants Chicken” by Chiara Malta and Sébastien Laudenbach, “A Difficult Year” by Olivier Nakache and Éric Toledano, “Anatomy of a Fall” by Justine Triet or “The Animal Kingdom” by Thomas Caillet.

In practice: The sessions will begin at nightfall and will all be accessible to people with reduced mobility. More informations ? On the ASBL website.
