POLITICS – The French music scene speaks out. In the middle of the Music Festival, this Friday, June 21, several hundred French artists, including Eddy de Pretto and Clara Luciani in particular, signed a column published on the website of the Inrocks to call for a barrier against the far right in the legislative elections of June 30 and July 7.

« We call on all political forces opposed to the message of hatred and rejection embodied by the extreme right to do everything possible in the coming days to obstruct the National Rally and its allies. », Write the 500 artists. Before adding: “ The world of arts and culture is in direct contact with society and its developments. It exists through the meeting of others, the discovery of their differences, the expression of the intimate, with respect for identities and diversity. »

Mbappé, Squeezie…

The column, which can be found in full on the website of our colleagues, was written at the initiative of the Syndicat des musiques contemporains. In addition to the two artists mentioned above, she has already been signed by November Ultra, the duo Acid Arab, the former representative of France at Eurovision Barbara Pravi, but also Gaël Faye, DJ Jennifer Cardini, Yael Naim, Yelle, Jeanne Balibar and the group Shaka Ponk.

Together, they invite “ has [se] mobilize during the next elections to block the far right at the polls and anticipate now [les] possible proxies ».

Since the announcement of the dissolution of the National Assembly by Emmanuel Macron, mobilization has been mounting among celebrities to invite the French not to vote for the far right. This is the case of the YouTuber Squeezie, but also of the footballers Marcus Thuram and Kylian Mbappé, currently at the Euro, and of a cohort of writers, including the latest Goncourt Prize winner Jean-Baptiste Andrea.
