But how is he going to demonstrate this to us? “Laboratory tests, shocking images filmed on hidden cameras in warehouses, in short a whole series of images and reports, journalistic investigations will justify the fact that we stop on a particular product. ” An example ? “Ground pepper”, the journalist quotes us. “It’s a disaster, we find amazing things inside, like traces of excrement! »

Mafia and agri-food repentant

The Pigeons will therefore put the labels through the mill and analyze the components. “We will also be interested in the social realities of production conditions. Some production lines involve kids. Another example that we have no idea: olive oil. Supporting images, you will realize that this super-profitable business has become the playground of the mafia because the risk of sanctions is lower. »

On set, the team will also welcome experts to complete this information. “A former food trader will be present who is in some ways a repentant. For years, he participated in a system where he passed up things and even falsified products. He will explain to us why these manipulations go completely unnoticed. »

What? We, consumers, are not protected? “The controls, for the most part, are based on self-checks, but companies only have the obligation to notify the authorities in cases of extreme seriousness. For the rest, they are not obliged to communicate the results of their analyses. Furthermore, due to budgetary reductions, we often cut the resources of all these control bodies. Someone who works in a French structure admitted to us that over a year, their capacity to control was eight to ten structures. In other words, a drop in the bucket among the quantity of goods in circulation. »

But, rest assured, far be it from them to darken the picture, he wants to clarify. “This show aims to give advice on buying safely, to show the alternatives, to see what tests can be done to buy with full knowledge of the facts. »
