A new diversion road on Highway 40 in Trois-Rivières will be put in place during the day on Saturday, June 29. This development will allow the reopening of the Route 352 access ramp as well as a shortening of the contraflow.

The length of the contraflow will therefore go from 6 kilometers to 2.5 kilometers.indicated the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility of Quebec in a communication sent Friday.

Traffic has been going in the wrong direction on the eastbound roadway between kilometres 205 and 2011 since the end of May. A culvert problem near Courteau Street is the cause of the closure of the westbound lanes.

Thanks to the new diversion route, motorists will be able to take the access ramp of Route 352 to reach Highway 40 heading west.

The closure of this ramp caused inconvenience to many citizens and merchants of Saint-Maurice who experienced a disturbing detour for the second time in a short time. The mayor of Saint-Maurice, Gérard Bruneau, had also expressed his concerns to the Ministry of Transport, which subsequently changed its plans.

The ministry must temporarily replace the problematic culvert. This work will take several weeks.

The ministry says that The various traffic obstructions could cause slowdowns or congestion in the area. He invites motorists to consult Quebec 511.
