After his victory in the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö, Nemo met Beat Jans on Tuesday in Bern. The federal councilor described his triumph as a boon for Switzerland. Improvements for non-binary people are underway, he added.
“The objective must be to live in Switzerland in an open and tolerant society,” the Minister of Justice wrote on X after the meeting. “Everyone must be and feel included.” Beat Jans thanked Nemo and welcomed the meeting, said the Federal Department of Justice and Police (FDJP).

Concretely, according to the FDJP, the Federal Office of Justice (FOJ) is currently drafting a report and examining how to improve the situation of non-binary people. On July 1, the federal office will organize a workshop on this theme, designed in a participatory manner, writes the DFJP. The wishes and needs of those affected will be taken into account. However, such a process takes time and money. The final report should be available by summer 2025.
