This evening, M6 is broadcasting for the first time the drama “La Vraie Famille” carried by a moving Mélanie Thierry. The opportunity to discover this poignant film, which did not have the expected success when it was released in theaters in February 2022.

The Real Family: what is this poignant drama with Mélanie Thierry?

After a presentation at the Angoulême Festival in the summer of 2021, the film The Real Family directed by Fabien Gorgeart is released in French cinemas on February 16, 2022.

The film tells the poignant story of Anna, played by Mélanie Thierry, who lives with her husband, her two children, and Simon, a little boy placed in foster care with them for several years. Anna became deeply attached to Simon, considering him her own son. The drama begins when Simon’s biological father, played by Lyes Salem, decides to take his son back. This decision plunges Anna into a deep emotional distress as she must face the prospect of parting with the child she raised and loved as her own.

The Real Family explores and questions the definition of family, the bonds of the heart, and the bonds of blood through the situation encountered by Anna and her family.

For this film, the filmmaker was inspired by his own experiences, since his family had taken in a child, who stayed with them, from the age of 18 months to the age of six. He told us when the film was released:

My mother, perhaps, had not appreciated the emotional implication of this particular function. The only advice she received from the foster carers was: “Love this child, but don’t love him too much. “.

A great Mélanie Thierry

Despite initial positive reviews and excellent word of mouth (the film has a score of 4.1/5 from our colleagues at AlloCiné in spectator reviews), The Real Family fails to establish itself in theaters. Thus, it totals only 100,000 spectators during its cinematographic exploitation.

For this poignant role, Mélanie Thierry won the Valois for best actress at the Angoulême Film Festival. A performance which earned him many positive opinions, and which will remain as one of his best roles:

A moving interpretation

Melanie Thierry at the top of her art!

Mélanie Thierry moving

Mélanie Thierry, supported by excellent supporting roles, brings her composition to the point of incandescence and carries everything away
