a 700 m2 restaurant opens in the Vendenheim Pyramid

This is something new that will make a big splash, friends. After more than 5 years of closure, the first floor of the Vendenheim Pyramid is reborn from its ashes and transformed into a gigantic restaurant. And you know what ? We snuck over, before the official opening on June 15, to give you some details about this rather special restaurant. Welcome to the colorful world of “Itza La Pyramide”.

We all know the Pyramid of VendenheimNear or far.

Built in 1991, and witness to the golden age of “select” nightclubs from the 90s to the end of the 2000s, she called herself Le Nil’s, L’Addict, or even Le Mood.

Whether you have passed by the nearby motorway (from where you can easily see this imposing building), or whether you have spent evenings smacking your PEL, you (for many) probably have a memory that resurfaces when thinking of this place.

But today, the nightclub past of this mythical pyramid building seems well and truly over, thanks to the arrival not of a new club, but of a restaurant which has enormous ambitions.

Itza La Pyramide: a restaurant that combines the flavors of Asia and South America

This Saturday, after several white services offered to guests to get the functioning running, it was the big premiere: the official opening of this new restaurant called Itza (in reference to the pyramid of Chichén Itzalocated in Mexico).

Beyond the name, the restaurant with more than 200 seats, and nearly 700 m2, is also inspired by Mexican cuisinebut that’s not all.

To offer so-called “fusion” cuisine, the team behind the stove also combines several flavors of Japan, opening its menu to certain specialties from the Land of the Rising Sun (and even Thailand).

After having had a first overview of the proposals, here (in broad terms) is what you can find:

A selection of starters like tuna tataki, tortillas and tequila guacamole; the gua bao with pulled beef and coriander or the chicken tacos, smoked tabasco and yogurtito.

Sushi, urakamis, hosomakis, nigiris, sashimi made on site by a sushi master, and “omakasés”: these offerings that leave room for the chef to surprise you.

We also enjoy a choice of oysters, ceviches, tatakis and yakitoris, And it’s not finished yet…

Wagyu ribeye; Angus rib-eye steak; beef picanha; crying tiger; octopus or grilled sea bass or smoked tofu with sesame cream, the chefs wanted to surprise with careful presentations, but also by the diversity of dishes and the quality of the products.

And to end on a sweet note, a pastry chef offers us the choice between six desserts which are also out of the ordinary.

So we have a real diversity in the proposals, dishes with careful visuals, color, lots of flavors and especially : a very wide price range, and this is one of the strengths of this card.

With this image of a staid nightclub which until recently stuck to this place, one would have thought that this new restaurant would be dedicated to a financially comfortable clientele (in other words armored), but this is not the case.

Entries range from 9 to 13€, ceviches range from 15 to 22€, tatakis from 13 to 15€, dishes from 20 to 60€ (for wagyu), you can really enjoy yourself without spending too much.

Of course, if you want to go “exceptional”, refined dishes and more daring dishes are offered, so there is something for all wallets – and it seemed important to us to emphasize this.

On the drinks side, here too, the Itza team has placed emphasis on diversity. A menu of signature or creative cocktails, but also new recipes, a wide range of wines by the bottle or glass, spirits and bubbles. These proposals have been carefully thought out in detail to convince a large clientele.

A restaurant that intends to make guests waddle

If Itze positions itself as a restaurant in its own right, and not as a club or night barthe place and the space obviously also lend themselves to celebration.

Here, customers are seated in complete privacybut still enjoy a musical atmosphere and a unique atmosphere that can be spiced up according to the desires and over the hours.

DJ, occasional entertainment, light shows, guests will have their eyes glued to their plates, but also on a very special atmosphere that will be offered to them.

Besides, speaking of atmosphere, the immense stage of almost 700 m2 has been divided into several distinct spaces which each have their own furniture, colors and lightsand that (whether we like the style or not) is pretty good.

Noble materials, sofa areas, places at the bar, more exclusive areas or large tables with a festive atmosphere, everyone will have their own little corner to dine and enjoy this place which definitely doesn’t see things by halves.
