Video game and cinema enthusiasts will be served! For his 3e edition, which will take place from Friday 8 to Sunday 10 November 2024 at the Elispace in Beauvais (Oise), the Retro Game Festival will settle on a much larger area than in previous years.
This year, the event, very popular with fans of gaming, board games and pop culture, will highlight the world of Lord of the Rings, during a weekend full of entertainment!
Visitors will be able to meet the French voice actors of four heroes of the saga: the hobbits Frodo, Sam, Merry and Pippin, take part in quizzes, conferences or take part in elven makeup and shield construction stands for small and big children.
Concerts, games, tournaments…
A concert of music from the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogy will be performed on Saturday, at 7 p.m., by the Oise Philharmonic Orchestra.
During this weekend, the numerous visitors (there were nearly 6,000 last year) will be able to discover a gaming area with free access, with arcade terminals, pinball machines “and many other games to experience between friends or family”, presents the City of Beauvais, organizer of the Rétro Game Festival.
You can also try out the latest generations of consoles, participate in tournaments on classics (Mario Kart, Street Fighter, Pokémon games and cards, etc.) and discover offers from partner stores.
Famous Content Creators and Cosplay
Several renowned content creators will be present, such as “BenzaieTV” known on YouTube and Twitch for its game tests and film reviews, watched by 700,000 people, “The Fairy Dina” streamer and multiple French champion of the video game “Just Dance », or the team of the YouTube channel “Retro Découverte”, followed by nearly 300,000 subscribers.
Concert and show on Friday evening
On Friday, November 8, from 8 p.m., the Rétro Game Festival will immerse its visitors in a magical world with a concert by Mimife and Emmanuel Dahl, actors who have lent their voices to several Disney animated films.
They will perform songs from the films Hercules, The Lion King, Rapunzel and other classics.
Their performance will be followed by the musical show “Eternal Story”, inspired by Beauty and the Beast and created by the cosplay troupe Once Upon a Show.
“This year, the world of cosplay [déguisement, ndlr] takes up even more space,” announces the organization, with a parade on Saturday and a competition on Sunday.
