the essential
Like every year, 111 artists exhibit at the Chapelle de l’Hôtel-Dieu, in Toulouse, from November 7 to 17, for the benefit of medical research on pediatric cancers and for the well-being of hospitalized children.
Laëtitia Vidal arrives in the chapel of the Hôtel-Dieu, in Toulouse, her arms full of works. For the 24 e edition of 111 des Arts, which takes place from November 7 to 17, she has specially created 107 small paintings measuring 20×20 cm. “I’ve been working on it since this summer. I’ve been participating in this event for 10 years, I’m investing in it with all my heart,” explains the artist; very moved. Last year, the public was sensitive to her art since Laëtitia Vidal sold 83 works in plexiglass. “I paint upside down, playing on transparency. My work is intended to be very cheerful, there are joyful messages that fit in well with our action in favor of children with cancer,” she explains.
As a reminder, the association “Les 111 des Arts” supports medical research by organizing this annual charity exhibition. Visitors can purchase a work by paying a membership fee of €30 to the association, to which is added €95 for an unframed painting and an additional €25 for a wooden frame (black or white). The 111 selected artists receive a fee of €50 on each painting sold.
Proud to participate in a good cause
Everyone is proud to take part in this charitable cause, this is the case of Toulouse resident Maxime Perboire, known as AFAT. For his second participation, this rising figure in street art produced around twenty drawings where we find his characters with their large, round and well-shaped heads, their small eyes and their limbs similar to bird legs.
The watercolorist Jeannette Giannini, for her part, painted 36 paintings in Toulouse. “This is my second participation in the 111, I have wanted to contribute to this event for a long time where the works presented are very diverse in terms of both themes and styles,” she says. And for good reason, every year, the 111 des Arts welcome 33 new artists. “Those who have achieved the 10 best sales are automatically selected for the following year,” explains Edith Ballot, the communications manager.
Three works and a raffle
Jean-David Saban, Guy Fontdeville, Danielle Paturet, Thierry Genay, Hervé Maury and Soren Vana are among the artists who have been present since the beginning, as has Marc Le Dizet. This time the latter returns with these famous cities in 3 D as well as a larger painting, “The Red City”, accessible after the raffle draw, as well as a screen print by Laurent Minguet or a sculpture by Corinne Chauvet . The artist CEET Fouad made a donation of 20 paintings (chickens) accessible at the usual price after drawing lots.
For this 24e edition, of which Leloluce is the godmother and of which Bernard Cadène signs the poster, the volunteers hope to do better than in 2023, where she managed to collect more than €120,000 donated to medical research on pediatric cancers and for the good -being hospitalized children. This year, the 111 des Arts de Toulouse would like to reach €150,000, by selling nearly 1700 works. To your good heart…
