3 million French people affected by visual disability
Main causes of avoidable blindness in France, AMD (age-related macular degeneration), glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy are serious eye diseases because their consequences are irreversible.
A large number of people affected are unaware of this. Better knowledge of diseases and their risk factors is indispensable to raise public awareness of the great value of early detection. The earlier diseases are detected, the sooner treatment will be put in place to slow down or even slow down the progression towards blindness.
As for the cataract which is one of the main causes of low vision in France, a simple surgical procedure can cure and restore normal vision.
