After recording the worst Memorial Day (a holiday which serves as a barometer for the sector) in forty years, cinemas did not do better the following week. And this is strongly reflected in the box office figures for the films currently showing. And it’s Furiosa: A Mad Max saga which pays the heaviest price, according to Les Numériques, exceeded by Garfield And Blue and Company.

The Warner film, starring Anya Taylor-Joy, recorded $10.7 million in admissions and therefore ranks third, after a more than disappointing start (32 million in four days). In total, worldwide, the film would have earned 114 million dollars in one week, far from the 168 million necessary to cushion the blow of the blockbuster.

In this context, Garfield can consider himself happy. Sony’s big orange cat won over, for the equivalent of $14 million in admissions, bringing its worldwide total to $152 million. Honorable for a film whose budget is around 60 million.

Blue and company, he makes a rather surprising return. After an average start, the film by John Krasinski (Jim in The Office) recovers and signs more than 10 million dollars in entries. However, the $80 million raised by this original film should not be enough for Paramount, according to Les Numériques.
