Worlds in common: the new photo festival at the Albert-Kahn departmental museum

The Albert-Kahn departmental museum is putting photography in the spotlight in a new festival, entitled Worlds in Common. Discover the first edition from June 1 to September 22, 2024.

Installed at Boulogne-Billancourt, THE Albert-Kahn departmental museum houses a surprising collection of photographs, which constitute the “archives of the planet“: an inventory of living things, a phenomenal project which aimed to immortalize and show the world as it was at the beginning of the 20th century.

Building on this heritage, the Albert Kahn Museum decided to create his own photography festivalin order to bring the spirit and dream of the collector to life, while giving pride of place to contemporary artists. Thus, from June 1 to September 22, 2024, you can admire in the museum the works of 11 contemporary photographers, exhibited as part of the festival Worlds in common.

This festival creates links between past and present, between the museum collections and the young generation of photographers. Each artist was charged with “representing reality”, as he sees it, as he experiences it. Humans and societies, nature, historical heritage, popular traditions: the world is revealed through these photos exhibited in the museum garden.

A price special is awarded to one of the participating photographers. This year, the jury of professionals rewarded Thierry Ardouin, with a special mention for Anaïs Tondeur.
