A charity painting exhibition in tribute to Noëlle Cavenel, entitled “The paintings of a life”, was held from May 14 to 18 in the Jean-Jaurès room of the town hall.

This artist was preparing an exhibition, a retrospective of all her works. She wanted the profit from the sale to go to the Intercommunal Hospital Center of the Ariège Valleys (Chiva), when she very suddenly left this world in February.

Her family, her daughters and granddaughter were also keen to make this project a reality by organising this exhibition of 80 paintings, with the support of the painting workshops she attended; that of Lucienne Fleurian from Saint-Pierre-de-Rivière, as well as that of Philippe Parage.

Throughout her professional life, as a teacher at the Gabriel-Fauré high school then at the Lakanal college, and in the artistic circles that she frequented assiduously, Noëlle Cavenel was very appreciated and recognized as an enthusiastic woman, passionate about the arts, generous loving light and beauty.

A large audience came to admire the paintings of this adopted Ariège resident, who had retained a taste for colors and orientalism from her years in Algeria. The exhibition reflected the different phases of his work: landscapes, still lifes, portraits, abstract painting with paintings and drawings accessible to all budgets.

€4,101 collected

The members of Lucienne Fleurian’s workshop were very present in the organization of this exhibition of their artist friend. “She cared so much about it,” they emphasize.

The profits collected from the sale of the paintings, as planned, were paid to Chiva, an exact sum of €4,101.

Noëlle’s husband and her daughter presented the check to Sylvain Boussemaere, general care coordinator, on June 17.
