Deployment of Micro-Folies in New Aquitaine

In New Aquitaine, the State wishes to contribute to the ambitious deployment of third cultural places within priority districts of urban policy, in rural communities or small centralities. Today, 59 Micro-Folies are open in the region out of a total of 70 projects.

The Micro-Folie project is a local cultural system supported by the Ministry of Culture and coordinated by La Villette in conjunction with 12 founding national establishments. A true local cultural platform, the Micro-Folie network makes culture accessible to all by bringing together several thousand masterpieces from numerous regional, national and international institutions and museums.

What is a Micro-Madness?

Une Micro-Folie is a modular space offering fun access to the works of the largest national museums thanks to the Digital Museum, the heart of the system, which presents more than 3,200 digitized works, from the network of 205 partner cultural establishments, whether national , regional and international. La Micro-Folie also offers complementary activities to the Digital Museum, such as a FabLab, a Virtual Reality space, a stage or a Café Folie (cafe, library, game library). It is designed as a local cultural structure, widely open to support and make local initiatives visible.

The Micro-Folie project is structured arounda digital museum bringing together several thousand masterpieces in collaboration with 12 founding national cultural establishments: the Center Pompidou, the Château de Versailles, the Cité de la Musique – Philharmonie de Paris, the Avignon Festival, the Arab World Institute, the Louvre, the Picasso-Paris National Museum , the Orsay Museum, the Musée du quai Branly-Jacques Chirac, the Paris National Opera, Grand PalaisRmn, Universcience and La Villette.

The issues

At the national level, the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Territorial Cohesion have displayed a objective of 700 Micro-Folies in 2026with priority implementation in urban policy districts, in rural communities or small centralities. Micro-Folie has been one of the government’s priority policies since June 2023. 460 Micro-Folies are currently in operation at the national level.

In the Nouvelle-Aquitaine regionthe State wishes to contribute to the ambitious deployment of these new cultural places: today 59 Micro-Folies are open out of a total of 70 projects. In the Gironde department, the Margaux Médoc Tourisme Micro-Folie is the second to have been set up, and the first itinerant.
