Carcassonne. Conflicts: a reflection on the role of painting and art

Is paint a weapon? This is the whole question of the latest edition of the Noire Montagne magazine, resulting from a partnership between Agglo, the Drac, the Region, and the departmental council, which therefore aims to question the role of painting in the context of global conflicts. Beyond this review, the partnership also aimed to support artistic creation in the region, with artist residencies, exhibitions and conferences.

In this edition of the Noire Montagne magazine, available in particular in the Agglo’s media libraries, professors, doctors of letters and human sciences, qualified in art history or even graduates of Saint-Cyr and the Ecole du Louvre express their feelings on this question.

This Friday, October 4, which will mark the end of this edition, will also be an opportunity to reflect on it around a conference-debate at 6 p.m. in the Fabrique des Arts auditorium, with renowned speakers: Jérôme Delaplanche , art historian, Géraud Seznec, heritage commander for the Army, Sylvie Le Ray-Burimi, chief heritage curator and head of the Fine Arts department of the Musée de l’Armée des Invalides and Alain Fabre , director of Fine Arts of Carcassonne, himself a painter who has dedicated works to the Broken Faces of the First World War.
