Three men aged around thirty, from the community of traveling peoplewere indicted in connection with a series of truck thefts, with flatbed, with or without tipper. Two were incarcerated. A third was presented on September 26, 2024 to the Versailles court. He benefited from judicial review.

The investigation carried out by the gendarmes of the Saint-Germain-en-Laye Research Brigade begins in March 2023. Three hooded criminals, mounted in a powerful carfalsely plated, steal a dump truck in Ecquevilly, in Yvelines. Then they tried to seize a second one in Taverny (dep. 95).

Municipal technical centers are targeted

The two facts tickle the military who make the connection with other cases, in the departments of Hauts-de-Seine (dep. 92), Val-d’Oise (dep. 95), Eure (dep. 95). 27) or even Seine-Saint-Denis (dep. 93). Each time, municipal technical centers or companies specializing in building or landscaping are targeted. In total, one sixty flights or attempts is recorded. With one constant fact: the thugs operate at night and with relay vehicles to cover their tracks.

Helped by technicians from criminal identificationthe research brigade manages to identify the main suspect, then his accomplices and finally the caches of the cars used for the trips. “They resold the trucks directly or dismantled them to offer parts to whoever needed them without being too careful,” confides a source.

At the same time, the lifestyle of the suspects was scrutinized. Foreign trips, three houses worth a total of 2 million eurosvehicles, luxury clothing, cash… Nothing matches their official income. Everything was therefore seized.

For now, the trio remains subject to the latest investigations led by an investigating judge.
