A guitar by singer Jean-Louis Aubert was sold for €8,200 on Sunday May 5, 2024, during the auction organized at La Tanière, in Nogent-le-Phaye. The shelter raised, in total, more than €37,000.

“I am very happy with the sale price of my guitar for the benefit of the zoo-refuge La Tanière, whose cause and state of mind I appreciate, but also its team. I made friends here,” confided, Sunday May 5, 2024, singer-songwriter Jean-Louis Aubert, who lives in the Chartres area.

The artist offered this guitar to Francine and Patrick, owners of the zoo-refuge, as part of the second auction, organized by the refuge this Sunday.

In 2023, the event raised €37,845. Last year, the two guitars already donated by Jean-Louis Aubert brought in a total of €1,800. This Sunday, two bidders competed to acquire the artist’s collector’s guitar, autographed and decorated with drawings by him. The starting price: €1,500.

“One day, I will go to The Lair with you…”

The auction lasted more than fifteen minutes. They quickly climbed to €3,000. One of the bidders, on the internet, then set the bar at €4,000. A way to prove your determination against your opponent in the room. But no one wanted to give up, increasing the bet by €50 or €100, after a few seconds of bluffing. Patrick Violas then contacted Jean-Louis Aubert and the latter, via the loudspeaker, thanked the participants live.

Finally, the bidder present in the room gave in when the Internet user’s bid reached €8,200. Biggest sale of the day. Surprised by this figure, the artist then went to the site of the refuge, in Nogent-le-Phaye. Patrick Violas handed the sold guitar to the artist. The singer amused the small audience, singing several pieces of his hits, improvising occasional words: “One day, I will go to La Tanière with you…”

Objects for all budgets

The success of this sale can be explained by the clever spirit of the La Tanière team, who informed the artist’s fans that this guitar would be available for purchase at an auction.

This event brought in the sum of €37,290. In the catalog, almost all the objects found a buyer. The second biggest sale was a photo of a lion by photographer Frank Mulliez, which sold for €1,700. His photos particularly appealed to the buyers present, such as “The young leopard” sold for €1,350, “A lion to drink” sold for €680, or even a “Tiger” for €600.

An acrylic canvas by the artist Georges Panossian found a buyer for €1,500, two seats at the La Côte Saint-Jacques restaurant in Joigny (2 Michelin stars) for €920, a painting of a wolf on an aluminum plate for €850 and an Italian bracelet. in 14 carat gold for €680…

“Pictures painted by the animals of La Tanière with food paints”

More modest budgets were able to spend between €50 and €200 for “pictures painted by the animals of La Tanière with food paints”, a painting on wood representing a donkey, a case of champagne bottles, or even a leather bag Michael Kors.

Sébastien Muller, zoological director of La Tanière, also raised his hand to acquire several “favorite” objects, portraits of animals with which he had very strong ties.

The auction lasted several hours, because Francine and Patrick Violas regularly spoke to the bidders, to tell them the past, often very sad, of their residents present on the paintings, the photos, the sculptures… The couple will organize a third edition of the auction, in 2025.
