AMAR CHAOUI

Amar Chaoui’s childhood was rocked by traditional African music of all genres from the Maghreb (Algeria, Morocco…) to black Africa (Mali, Senegal…) but also funk, blues, jazz… and therefore naturally by percussion. At college, one of his teachers opened a music workshop, Amar signed up, from there his passion for percussion developed and he learned the fundamental bases of the instruments on his own at the age of 14.

Mastery of a wide variety of percussion instruments such as the darbouka, riq, tar, bendir, congas, bongos, batas, djembe, pandeiro, cajon, udu, etc… allowed him to share the stage or record (albums or film scores) alongside renowned artists such as: Steeve Colman, Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin), Tigran Hamasyan, Ibrahim Maalouf, Sophie Elborg, Rachid Taha, Justin Adams, Cheb Khaled, Tinariwen, Karim Ziad, Aziz Sahmaoui (University of Gnawa), Thione Seck, OUM, Armand Amar (film music), Hindi Zahra, Zaho, Yvan Le Bolloc’h and Bruno Solo (BO Camera Cafe), Amazigh Kateb, Safy Boutella, Cheb Bilal , Cheba Zahouania, Cheba Fadela, Cheb Sahraoui, Brigitte, Aurélie Saada, BVO (disco/funk), multiple collaboration CABARET SAUVAGE “Folles nuits berbères, Barbès Café, Cabaret TAM TAM, Casbah mon Amour, Don’t free me, I’m leaving charge”, Haïdouti Orkestar, Barbès Café, Désert Rebel collective (Tryo, Gnawa Diffusion, IAM), Gaâda Diwane de Bechar, Cheikh Sidi Bemol, HK et les Déserteurs, Boogie Balagan, Daxar, les Frères Seba, Pause (Guizmo de TRYO) , Pipaz (funk music), Origines controlés (Mouss and Hakim), Akli D, Takfarinas, Djamel Allam, Allaoua, Djura (ex-Djurdjura), Houria Aïchi, Samira Brahmia, Riff Cohen, Cheikh Lounès Kheloui, Abdelkader Chaou, Larbi Dida (ex-ONB), Hasna El Becharia…

Amar Chaoui has been traveling the world with his instruments for 25 years now, working at the heart and in the service of different musics and cultures. His career is not limited to the music scene or the recording studio, he also puts his art at the service of dance and since 2000, teaches and in turn transmits his passion to his students.

AHMED AMINE BEN FEGUIRA

Ahmed Amine Ben Feguira, musician, oudist, songwriter, studied at the Higher Institute of Music in Tunis then at the University of -Champagne-Ardenne. At the end of his university career in musicology, he tried out different musical collaborations (jazz, traditional music, contemporary music, electro music, alternative music, free jazz), and multiplied the experiences and encounters to enrich his instrumental practice. From then on, armed with his oud, a favorite instrument of Arab music, he explored free sounds where the very particular tones of his age-old instrument rub shoulders with more contemplative atmospheres. Ahmed is eager for new collaborations: Yamen Mohamad, Mido Belghith, Moonyr Ben Hbal, Naghib Shanbehzadeh, Fabien Humbert,… and leads his own trio with Marcel Ebbers on double bass and Mathias Neiss on drums whose music is a delicious mix cultural influences and creative expression.

Ahmed Amine Ben Feguira is also associated with some interesting projects, such as Zamizen, an educational program that teaches soft skills to children aged 3 to 11. Through stories, songs and games, Zamizen aims to promote self-confidence, kindness and citizenship. It also helps prevent violence, reduce conflict and improve overall well-being. The program seamlessly integrates digital and paper-based learning, bridging the gap between school, extracurricular activities and home. Zamizen has received the support of the Ministry of National Education with the Edu-Up1 label.

The diversity of Ahmed Amine Ben Feguira’s interests and contributions make him a fascinating musician!
