CHLOE’S OBSESSION – For two years, the heiress has been the subject of threats of attack and kidnapping. But how did the princess find herself in the sights of a criminal organization and its leader on the run?

“Spain Accidentally Frees Dutch Drug Lord.” This is the title that appears on our screen on this cool April morning. Reading the article, we discover, incredulously, that the Spanish justice system recently let one of the most wanted criminals in Europe escape. Tracked by Interpol for five years, Karim Bouyakhrichan took advantage of a miscarriage of justice to take the field. And remains untraceable to this day.

The affair was already quite incredible. But that was before discovering that the criminal was also the author of kidnapping and death threats, addressed to a princess. And not just any: Catharina-Amalia, future queen of the Netherlands.

The princess who didn’t want to become queen

We vaguely remember the story of this young woman who did not want to become queen. Three years ago, we read his secrets in a biography. She then affirmed that she was not ready to ascend the throne. The Princess of also declared that, if her father were to die prematurely, she would ask her mother to replace her for a while. We remember feeling a certain tenderness towards this teenager, who visibly aspired to a normal life. Without realizing that reality would eventually catch up with her.

The Mocro Maffia

It all begins, we learn, in September 2022. Catharina-Amalia from the Netherlands then enthusiastically returned to the University of Amsterdam, where she took courses in politics, psychology, law and economics. The young woman shares her accommodation with other students. But very quickly, threats of kidnapping and attack were made against him – as well as that of Prime Minister Mark Rutte – by the Mocro Maffia, a vast Moroccan drug and cocaine trafficking organization operating internationally. , worry the Dutch Court.

Soon, Catharina-Amalia has to move. She takes up her quarters at the palace in The Hague. And only goes out under a good escort, in order to go to class. Thus reclusive, the young woman of 20 must dream of anonymity more than ever, we think. The protective measures deployed in favor of the princess also proved insufficient. She therefore finds her salvation in exile, the tabloids reveal to us.

One year in Madrid

According to the Dutch press, the student spent a little over a year in Madrid, sheltered, it is rumored, by the palace of Letizia and Felipe VI of Spain. She would have continued her studies there remotely – and found a semblance of normal life. This is evidenced by these photos of the young woman, immortalized while shopping or near Retiro Park. A few months later, the princess returned to Amsterdam, the media from the Dutch group NOS tell us. And now we learn of the escape of Karim Bouyakhrichan, alleged leader of the Mocro Maffia and potential author of the threats made against Catharina-Amalia.

A judicial error

We immediately look at the story of this alleged drug lord. If we understand correctly, the criminal was arrested in January, in Marbella, for money laundering to the tune of 6 million euros, before being placed in pre-trial detention. However, we learned that he was released on parole at the end of February by a judge at the Malaga court. At that point, the magistrate only recommended confiscating the accused’s passport. The latter must also pay a deposit of 50,000 euros and go to the police station two days a month.

The Malaga court also refuses to allow the national court in Madrid to issue an arrest warrant, considering that the criminal must first be tried locally, for the money laundering case. The urgent extradition request made by the Dutch authorities, who wanted to try Karim Bouyakhrichan for drug trafficking, remains a dead letter. In the meantime, the main party concerned is of course taking advantage of this legal imbroglio to escape. We note in passing that the criminal disappeared at the beginning of April, three weeks ago.

And if a Spanish minister assures in the media that the alleged drug lord will be “handed over to justice” as soon as possible, we can imagine the concern of the Dutch royal family about the prospect of him being able to return to Amsterdam . To date, no media has further clarified the reason for the threats made against the princess, although it is likely that the motivations of the criminals are pecuniary. What we do know is that Catharina-Amalia seems determined to get back on track with her life. She thus participated in her first state banquet, on April 17, in Amsterdam.
