Art for the benefit of education

An exhibition of the works of painter Jean Therrien will be held from May 10 to 12 at the Dina-Bélanger Creative Space (former municipal credit union) for the benefit of the Collège Jésus-Marie de Bellechasse foundation.

Originally from Saint-Agapit, former professional hockey player and restaurateur from Quebec, Jean Therrien took up painting on canvas as a hobby during his retirement in 2011, between two rounds of golf. With the arrival of the pandemic, he will then devote himself to it full time.

It is by observing photos of landscapes and drawing inspiration from his life and his numerous travels around the world that he “reinvents, through his naive and undisciplined style, all the colors and beauty of the world which we surrounded”.

Jean Therrien has decided to bequeath his collection of paintings and give all the profits to the Fondation du Collège Jésus-Marie de Bellechasse.

In addition to being able to admire the works of the artist from the region, people who visit the Dina-Bélanger Creative Space on Friday, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., as well as Saturday, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., will be enlivened by the musical performances of Régent Leclerc, well-known artist in the region who animated the terrace of the restaurant Le Petit Château in Old Quebec for more than 35 years.

To find out more about the event which will take place at 76, rue Principale in Saint-Michel-de-Bellechasse, you can visit www.facebook.com/events/757852123219906.
