In this “preferred” scenario, the Olympic Games would allow the creation of 247,000 jobs and of the 10.7 billion euros of anticipated impact, 3.5 billion euros would come from tourism, 5.4 billion euros from the organization and 1.8 billion euros of construction.
Note that the CDES also established a “central” scenario according to which the Games would have a positive impact of 8.1 billion euros on the economy.
In an interview with Ouest-France in January, the governor of the Banque de France declared: “It is a favorable event for the economy, because there will be many visitors, and the whole world will watch France! But this does not dramatically change our growth forecast. The most positive movement for 2024 is disinflation.” “We are not going to gain a point of growth thanks to the Games” (one point of growth = 1% growth in GDP).
According to the OFCE (French Observatory of Economic Conditions), there will be a slight peak in growth in the third quarter of 0.3%, particularly due to the impact of tourism linked to the Games.
