Soilwork vocalist Björn “Speed” Strid confirmed during a recent interview that the band does not plan to release a new album until spring 2026, leaving this year mostly devoted to the members’ side projects.
A creative process that progresses slowly
In an interview with Rapture RadioStrid shared details about the group’s current status: “We are slowly starting to write for a new album. [2025] will be mainly devoted to [mon autre groupe] The Night Flight Orchestra, but we will be working on new songs for Soilwork at the same time. We are aiming for a release for spring 2026, but nothing is set in stone yet.”
The group’s latest album, The abandonmentreleased in 2022, marked a new stage in Soilwork’s musical evolution. However, Strid explains that the group prefers to proceed with caution this time: “We’ve been through a lot lately. With the official arrival of Simon Johansson as guitarist, there is a new energy, but we want to take our time to create something truly special.”

An overview with Spirit Of No Return
Last October, Soilwork unveiled Spirit Of No Returna single that gives a taste of the group’s musical direction. According to Strid: “This track brings back the thrash elements of our debut while reinterpreting them in a heavier, modern aesthetic. The lyrics explore the desire to belong and the dangers of abandoning one’s true identity.”
The music video, in which the iconic Soilwork symbol is recast, embodies a visual and thematic renaissance, in line with the message of perseverance and transformation conveyed by the song.
