If it is true that for Microsoft, absolutely everything can be an Xbox, whether it is a phone, a computer or a simple connected television, the Redmond firm does not forget its hardware, even if the PS5 largely leads the way in this generation (and we won’t forget Nintendo’s excellent scores either). In 2023, documents disclosed during the Activision-Blizzard takeover affair effectively revealed that Xbox planned to release a new console on a hybrid model, mixing native technology and cloud gaming, in 2028.
Last September, Windows Central claimed that this new console would finally be released earlier than expected, in 2026. To corroborate this information, it is TheGhostofHope who claims today that this machine will arrive at the end of 2026 and that it would be called “Xbox Prime”.
Insider well known for his numerous scoops in the universe Call of Duty for years, TheGhostofHope now has a seemingly serious foothold in the ramifications of Microsoft, since the American giant absorbed Activision-Blizzard. According to “proven sources”, the Xbox Prime will therefore be released at the end of 2026: he specifies, however, that he does not know whether this is the definitive name or a simple code name.
He also adds that the new Call of Duty of this year would then be a title in the line-up, a considerable weapon for Microsoft and even more so if the latter grants itself a temporary exclusivity, even a very short one. This new CoD would therefore be the next opus signed Infinity Ward (Modern Warfare 4 ?). Note also that Tom Henderson, another well-known personality in the video game landscape for his dozens of pieces of information revealed in advance, relayed the words of The GhostofHope.
Thus, the Xbox Prime would indeed be Microsoft’s new home console, and not the portable Xbox already confirmed by the company which will arrive “later”, again according to TheGhostofHope. As tradition dictates, we will not take the whole thing at face value while waiting for officialization or simply more details from third-party sources.
