After No Tobacco Month (November) or Dry January for alcohol, here comes the “June without added sugars” operation.

The SOS hepatitis & liver diseases association is renewing its “June without added sugars” challenge. For a month, you try to become aware of your sugar consumption.

For the second year in a row, with the support of the National Association of Hepatogastroenterologists of General Hospitals (ANGH) and the European Association of Liver Patients, the SOS Hepatitis & Liver Diseases association supports all those who wish to raise the challenge.

“If sugar is essential to the body, the risks associated with excessive consumption are now well known: diabetes, cardiovascular disorders, overweight and obesity, fatty liver disease, etc. And the particularly deleterious effect of added sugars in ultra-processed foods has now been clearly demonstrated”explains the association behind this awareness.

The challenge is open to anyone of legal age. Several levels of participation are possible, from the simple “Sympathizer”, curious to try, to the “Ambassador”, motivated to bring the challenge to life in their neighborhood, association or business.

This year again, a survey will be carried out among participants who wish to do so to advance knowledge on the issue. At the end of the first edition in 2023, 88% of participants declared having reduced, partially or completely, their consumption of added sugars.
