During the month of October, the information and awareness campaign on breast cancer, known as Pink October, takes place for the 31st time. Indeed, “breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in and constitutes the main cause of mortality among them,” explains the French administration. In people aged 50 and 74, with no history or symptoms, in France, the national screening program is set up. Indeed, “detected at an early stage, the disease generally requires lighter and less aggressive treatments”.

This is why from the age of 25, it is recommended to do a clinical examination once a year, observing and palpating the breasts. Recently, Dr Sophie-Hélène Zaimi explained on the social network Instagram how to perform a self-palpation. But what to do if you feel a lump in your breast? Élise Destannes, midwife also known under the pseudonym @la.sage.femme, returned, in an Instagram video, to what should be done in this scenario.

“I want to reassure you, it is not because you feel a lump in your breast that it is necessarily cancer”, presents Élise Destannes in her video. But the midwife emphasizes that you must “make an appointment quickly with your midwife or your gynecologist or general practitioner”. During the consultation, the health professional will carry out, with your agreement, a complete examination of the chest. (…)
