Decode and stimulate the singing of neurons

CONFERENCE. Thursday, October 3 in the evening, as part of the Science Festival, the Lions Club Grand Der and Ifsi-Ifas of Saint-Dizier organized an evening dedicated to the functioning of the brain. In the Ifsi amphitheater, Laurent Koessler, research professor in neuroscience at the University of Lorraine and the CNRS in , gave a conference entitled “Decoding and stimulating the singing of neurons. What contributions for the studies of language and memory?

Around 130 people attended this evening which was aimed at health professionals and the general public. “The objective of this evening is to show how new technologies and discoveries make it possible to improve brain activity and the functions of language and memory, particularly in the face of dyslexia and Alzheimer’s disease,” said Laurent Koessler.

In his talk, he presented how the brain works and demonstrated that it works thanks to synchronized neural networks and that the brain’s electricity allows neurons to communicate with each other. The neuroscience professor also gave information on treatments for certain brain diseases.

The donations collected by the Lions Club Grand Der during the evening will be used to finance the service club’s charitable actions, which, this year, will focus on pediatric cancers. The Lions Club Grand Der will organize a new conference on Thursday October 24, at 8:30 p.m., at Ifsi.
