On hole 16 of the Kingsbarns course, Nicolas Colsaerts scored an exceptional albatross: two on a par 5! Already leading the tournament, he took a four-shot lead at that moment.
There was still a lot of golf left to play in this Alfred Dunhill Links Championshipbut whatever happens, whether he wins the tournament or not, Nicolas Colsaerts signed the move of the week. And perhaps the shot of the year. The Belgian was already a step ahead of his closest pursuer, Tyrrell Hattonat the top of the leaderboard, when in the heart of the third round, he achieved an albatross, on hole n°16 of Kingsbarns. Two on a par 5!
The winner of theOpen de France 2019 hit a sublime long iron which first went beyond the flag, before going back down into the hole, ideally following the slope of the green. The author of the feat had to wait for the commissioners to share the good news with him since the view of the green was hidden from him.
The last successful albatross on the European circuit dates from May 23. It was the work of New Zealander Sam Jones in… Belgium, in Soudal Open.
