The general secretariat of the Justice and Development Party (PJD) expressed its support for the position of the Moroccan authorities, who affirmed that Morocco is absolutely not affected by the decision of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU), delivered on Friday October 4, 2024, concerning the two agreements relating to agriculture and fishing signed in 2019 between the Kingdom of Morocco and the EU. Morocco is not involved in this matter and has not participated in any of its stages.

In a press release, the PJD stressed that the intervention of the CJEU in a matter of a sovereign nature affecting Morocco and its territorial integrity is unacceptable and raises questions about a possible exceeding of its powers. He also highlighted “the risk that the Court falls into the trap of certain entities known for their hostility towards Morocco, who are working to exploit this file”.

The party expressed deep astonishment at this decision, reaffirming that Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara and southern regions is an issue deeply rooted in history, firmly established for the country, its leadership and its people. This sovereignty is not subject to blackmail or compromise in any form, and it does not tolerate any external interference. As the King said: « The Morocco will remain In son Saharaand the Sahara will remain in his Morocco until the end of times”.

The PJD secretariat expressed its unwavering support for all political and diplomatic measures that the country is taking to confront this unfair and biased decision, which does not respect the solid strategic relations between Morocco and the EU. This decision constitutes political blackmail and unacceptable interference in the sovereignty of Morocco, in a matter managed exclusively within the framework of the United Nations, in accordance with the Moroccan proposal for autonomy under Moroccan sovereignty. This proposal enjoys growing support from many countries, including EU member states, and is seen as a serious and credible solution to end this artificial conflict that threatens the security and stability of the region.

Previously, Morocco had already clarified that it did not consider itself concerned, in any way, by the CJEU decision rendered on Friday on agricultural and fisheries agreements. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that “the Kingdom did not participate in any of the stages of these legal procedures”.

In its press release, the ministry recalled that “Morocco is not party to this issue, which concerns on the one hand the EU and on the other hand the Polisario Front supported by Algeria”, specifying that “Morocco did not participate in any stage of these procedures, and therefore does not consider itself concerned by the decision« .
