If A perfect couple continues to interest Netflix subscribers, a new fiction has risen to the very first place in the Netflix top 10. In just 24 hours, Love deceived was ahead of all the others, even ahead of Monsters. Is this really surprising when we know that it is a romantic drama, not recommended for those under 16? Love deceived : What is the story of this Netflix romantic drama?
After Cyprus in If I fallreleased online in the summer of 2024, Netflix this time takes us to the magnificent Amalfi Coast with this Italian series. To celebrate her 60th birthday, Gabriella feels very alone, her three adult children are all busy. Is this why she is receptive to the charm of Elia, a thirty-year-old whom she helps when his car breaks down near her home? After lending him her cell phone to call a tow truck – it’s dark, it’s raining – Gabriella therefore offers this stranger to take shelter at her house while waiting. It only takes him a few minutes before he takes off his t-shirt (and puts on a dry one, of course…) and rummages through his host’s collection of expensive watches. A few more scenes and, despite her distrust and their age difference, Gabrielle finally lets herself be seduced. But who is Elia really? Is the man sincere or, as Gabrielle’s children think, is he after her fortune? This is the question that will torment you throughout this mini-series.
Love deceived on Netflix reminds you of another series? It’s normal!
From the first episode, everything is done to instill doubt. Doubtit is also the French title of the English series Gold Digger dont Love deceived is adaptation. A fiction with Julia Ormond and Ben Barnes, broadcast on France 2 in 2022 and available for free on M6+. Like Gabriella’s entourage, the spectator is placed from the start in a position of suspicion in relation to Elia, the music, particularly insistent, serving to emphasize that things are not clear. Troubled love story between a sixty-year-old woman and an attractive thirty-year-old, family secrets… The series also talks about female desire, which can still be taboo when it comes to a 60-year-old woman, with scenes deliberately explicit, but also of the age difference and the way others see them. If the story is interesting, with this permanent doubt that keeps you in suspense, the scenario advances much too quickly. An episode about meeting, seducing, then introducing him to his family at the family lunch as if he were their future father-in-law. Two episodes and presto, he’s moving in. Not to mention that we can’t help but question Gabriella’s actions on several occasions, wondering who could really act like this, without any caution in the face of this complete stranger.

If Elia’s interpreter says something to you, that’s normal, you’ve probably seen it in Grey’s Anatomy. Giacomo Gianniotti played Doctor Andrew DeLuca in the medical series, between 2015 and 2021. A role for which there was already a question of age difference since his character developed a relationship with Meredith. The 35-year-old Italian actor finds here a darker role with this romantic series from Netflix and this character who constantly blows hot and cold. Enough to make you want to take a little trip to Italy, to follow in the footsteps of Emily Cooper.
