Thursday October 10 In the morning, the inhabitants of the canton of La Ferté-Gaucher woke up once again with their feet in the water… For the fourth time this yearthe Grand Morin got out of bed following heavy rain caused by Storm Kirk.

Consequences: waters submerged the streets, paralyzing certain communities.

A mobilization since the day before

As soon as the department went into red alert on Wednesday afternoon, municipalities reacted quickly on social networks to keep residents informed of developments in the situation. In La Ferté-Gaucher, the announcement of the imminent flood was relayed via the digital information panel and the civil security siren was triggered throughout the city.

Municipal employees roamed the streets to distribute sandbags and concrete blocks so that residents can build cofferdams in front of their front doors. Likewise in Jouy-sur-Morin, an on-call number has been posted on the municipality’s Facebook page in the event of an emergency or the need for concrete blocks to protect homes.
