New twist in the Cauet affair. The host, accused of rape and sexual assault by several women but who has always proclaimed his innocence, filed a complaint in November 2023 for “slanderous denunciation, attempted extortion of funds by an organized gang, forgery and use of forgery against non-individuals called” with the Nanterre public prosecutor’s office.
In a press release released this Tuesday, October 8, his lawyers welcomed “that one of the people who tried to extort funds from him on the basis of false allegations is currently in police custody in police premises in Paris.”
Cauet still indicted
While his defense considers this as proof of the “extortion attempts of which Sébastien Cauet is a victim”, the former star host of NRJ still remains indicted.
In fact, indicted since May 24, he was then subjected to judicial control, with the requirement to pay a deposit of 100,000 euros, to undergo treatment, and not to come into contact with people who had filed a complaint, to report regularly to the police station and the ban on practicing his profession. Finally, in July, his judicial supervision was reduced, allowing him to work again on the radio.
