Since January 1, Lewis Hamitlon is officially a Ferrari driver. But until then, apart from a photo of the Briton driving a kart with a red helmet when he was a child, the seven-time Formula 1 world champion had not set foot in Maranello.
This Monday, the 40-year-old driver appeared at the headquarters of the Italian brand, the starting point of his adventure with Ferrari after 12 seasons spent at Mercedes.
Hamilton appeared very elegant and posed in front of the former home of Enzo Ferrari, the founder of the famous prancing horse brand, according to photos released by his new team. He then went to the Fiorano circuit to meet the team boss, the Frenchman Frédéric Vasseur, and the general director of Ferrari, the Italian Benedetto Vigna.

« Talways had this dream of running in red”
In Maranello, he was also able to speak with several members of the team that he will meet in the coming weeks, and in particular Riccardo Adami who will be his track engineer. The seven-time world champion will drive a Ferrari single-seater for the first time on Wednesday at the Fiorano circuit, where he will be entitled to a maximum of 1,000 kilometers with F1 for the 2022 season.
“There are days that you know you will remember for the rest of your life and today, my debut as a Ferrari driver, is one of them. I have been lucky enough to achieve things I never thought possible in my career, but a part of me has always had this dream of racing in red,” Hamilton explained in the Ferrari press release and on his Instagram page.
The Briton will make his official debut at the wheel of the new Ferrari single-seater during pre-season testing in Bahrain from February 26 to 28, two weeks before competing in his first Grand Prix with the Scuderia in Australia.
