Lunch Garden
New details emerge regarding bankruptcy and planned relaunch of Lunch Garden. Both owned restaurants and franchised branches will close their doors. The buyer CIM Capotal also wishes to transfer several branches to franchisees.
400 jobs lost
After the confirmation, Monday morning, of the plan to take over part of Lunch Garden’s activities by the Antwerp investment fund CIM Capital, details are provided on the concrete plans of the buyer.
Management wants to keep 24 of the 39 restaurants in-house and franchise nine others, the unions report to Gazet Van Antwerpen, Bruzz and HLN, among others. Only nine of the current 22 franchised restaurants would remain in place. The Tervuren bistro will also close its doors. You can already read some quasi-confirmations below, although an official confirmation is awaited.
In existing restaurants, the new owner wants to retain 70% of the staff and hire 30% through flexible and temporary employment. At the head office, 20 of the 50 jobs will disappear. In total, some 400 jobs would disappear, instead of the 300 we were still talking about on Monday morning.
