The prospects of an arrival of the Formula 1 in Argentina have gained consistency since the arrival of Franco Colapinto in the premier category last year. In response, Tourism, Environment and Sport Secretary Daniel Scioli announced that discussions to hold a Grand Prix in the country were already underway.
The Williams driver has attracted strong interest by taking part in the final nine races of the 2024 season. His move to Formula 1 has attracted support from fans, sponsors and even celebrities, who have launched campaigns on social networks for a team to give him a steering wheel for this year.
Faced with this enthusiasm, Scioli reacted by taking steps to bring the prestigious automobile competition back to Argentina. In an interview given to Registered Marketinghe confirmed that talks are moving forward with a target set for 2027.
He clarified that there is a high probability that a Grand Prix will take place in Argentina in two years: “We are working with the City Government of Buenos Aires. In 2027, a very concrete opportunity presented itself following a change of dates to another city, and international experts are currently on site to evaluate the Buenos Aires circuit. »
As a result, Scioli confirmed plans to completely renovate the Autódromo Oscar y Juan Gálvez, with a budget of around $30 million, a project that will take two years to meet the standards imposed by the FIA. This announcement had already been mentioned during his previous visit to La Voz last year.
“Sport, tourism and the promotion of Argentina are a priority for the government, and everything is on the right track,” he added.
The secretary had already presented this project in Brazil, during the São Paulo Grand Prix in November 2024, in the presence of Stefano Domenicali, the CEO of Formula 1 and a fervent admirer of Argentina.
