The arrival of Franco Colapinto in F1 in 2024 has reignited a long-lost passion Argentines had for Formula 1.
Thanks to Williams RacingColapinto was able to realize his “childhood dream” by participating in a total of nine racesscoring points and attracting the attention of other F1 teams.

Despite his remarkable performance, the young pilot was unable to obtain a flight to 2025 and will continue as reserve pilot chez Williams, with “first house“.

The journey of Franco Colapinto in Formula 1 in 2024
Colapinto's first Formula 1 race took place on 1 September at Monzaduring the Italian Grand Prix. He produced a promising performance by finishing twelfthjust two places behind the last driver to score points, Kevin Magnussen.
At the following Grand Prix, the Azerbaijan GPthe Argentinian finished eighththus marking its first four pointsa surprise both for him and for the Williams team.

HAS SingaporeColapinto finished eleventhwithout points scored, but achieved a overtaking maneuver from the start which will remain engraved in Argentinian memories.

On the Circuit of the Americas (United States), he had another good performance finishing tenth and adding an extra point for Williamsthe last he will score in F1 this season.

The last races (Qatar and Abu Dhabi) were difficult for Franco, with an accident from the start due to a collision with Esteban Ocon (Alpine) during the first, then another with Oscar Piastri (McLaren) who damaged his car in the second.

As previously mentioned, the Argentine, under contract with Williams, will continue as reserve pilot for the British team, which confirmed Carlos Sainz Jr. et Alex Albon as drivers for the upcoming season.
The possibility of seeing Colapinto in Formula 1 in 2025 presents itself with Alpinethe French team whose drivers Pierre Gasly and the rookie Jack Doohan.

Doohan has one five-race contract with Alpine, debuting in the last race of 2024 (Abu Dhabi), it therefore has four Grand Prix left in 2025 (Australia, China, Japan and Bahrain).
It is important to note that Formula 1 can be implacable ; and the results are not up to parAlpine could decide not to renew Doohan's contract, which would pave the way for Colapinto, which is appreciated by Flavio Briatorean influential figure within the team.
