Flavio Briatore, nicknamed the “miracle worker”, made his return to the world of Formula 1 to revitalize the Alpine team. Banned from the sport in 2008 for his role in the “crashgate”, the former boss of Benetton and Renault was reinstated in mid-2024 by Luca de Meo, CEO of Renault.
Appointed executive advisor, Briatore works closely with new team principal Ollie Oakes. This duo appears to have breathed new life into the Enstone team, who finished the season in an encouraging sixth place after a disastrous start to the year.
Luca di Montezemolo, former president of Ferrari and contemporary of Briatore, believes that the latter is the ideal profile to relaunch Alpine, praising his experience and his strategic flair. An ambitious mission awaits Briatore to place Alpine among the dominant teams.

“Flavio was a rich man, but no one should forget that Flavio worked miracles with Benetton”, he told Gazetta dello Sport.
“Luca De Meo made the right choice by taking him to Alpine, I am happy for him, even if the road to victory will be long.”
“I saw some good races from [Pierre] Gasly, but that's not enough. I think they will improve next year though.”, concluded the Italian.
